Senator Moye Refutes Corruption Allegations
Bong County Senator Prince Moye has publicly refuted allegations of his involvement in budget manipulation and corruption, which have recently surfaced in Liberia’s political landscape.
Speaking in Monrovia, Moye dismissed the claims as politically motivated propaganda. He challenged critics to produce evidence, asserting that he would resign from his Senate position if proven guilty.
The accusations stem from a report suggesting that a leaked video captured high-level government officials, including Moye, distributing cash during budget discussions held at Boulevard Palace Hotel. The footage allegedly tied corruption to the late General Manager of the hotel, who reportedly possessed incriminating evidence before his demise.
In response, Moye clarified that all budget discussions under his leadership as Chairman of the Senate Ways, Means, Finance, and Development Committee have been conducted at the Capitol Building. He emphasized that he has never participated in secretive meetings to manipulate budget allocations.
Moye attributed the rumors to political opponents attempting to tarnish his reputation due to his growing influence in Liberian politics. He criticized media outlets for publishing unverified reports and urged journalists to adhere to ethical standards to prevent the spread of misinformation.
The senator reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in the budget process under the current administration. He vowed that practices from previous administrations, including excessive budget allocations and off-the-books expenditures, would not be tolerated under his watch.
Calling the allegations baseless, Senator Moye encouraged his critics to address their internal political disputes instead of dragging him into fabricated controversies. “If anyone has evidence of wrongdoing, I challenge them to present it. My record speaks for itself,” he concluded.
